Antique white ironstone saucier made circa 1850s by Utzschneider & Cie in Lorraine, France - suppliers to Napoleon no less!
The backstamp commemorates their award of the Medaille d'Or in 1844 and was used until the mid 1850s
In remarkable condition and so rare to see one shaped like this with the handle in the form of a bird
Lovely large size, has some marks from where it was on a stand for the firing process and scratches inside the bowl. Some surface scuffs and scratches from use. Couple of small nicks to the base. No chips or cracks or crazing. A quality piece which you will not see again!
Serve your sauce and gravy in style and no drips on the tablecloth due to the attached saucer
