Antique Chinese ginger or spice jars from the 19th century, made for the export market in the Ming style
Blue and white ironstone pottery ginger jar, Chinoiserie decor with transfer print Oriental scenes
Right hand in the first photo is pot 4, left hand pot in the photo is pot 5
Pot four has scenes of buildings, hills and a ship of a river. There is extensive crazing with staining in the crazing. No cracks, chip to the base and nibble to the rim
Pot five has faded scenes of a house, hills, trees and water. Lots of crazing, no cracks, chip to the rim and nibbles to the base

Dug from Victorian landfill, so many of these went to landfill as from around 1880 it became uneconomical to reuse old materials. Therefore councils started paying to have rubbish dumped in landfill. This short window continued until around 1914 when manufacturing became much more industrialised.
Measures 9.5cms high and base is 8cms diameter
