Blue Wedgwood Jasperware Heart Shaped Trinket Pot with Lid / Wedgwood Icarus Blue Jasperware Heart Box / White Relief Icarus & Daedalus

A Wedgwood pale blue matte Jasperware, heart shaped box and lid.

Decorated in stunning white bas relief with Wedgwood's neoclassical Icarus & Daedalus cameo, the father and son who flew away to escape their prison. Icarus is depicted wearing his wings before he ignored his father Daedalus' warnings and flew too close to the sun, the wax in his wings melted and he tumbled out of the sky and fell into the sea where he drowned. The design is complemented by stylized flower-heads and a floral border. The base of the box is decorated with white embossed flower-head motifs.

The box and lid are offered in excellent, used, vintage condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or crazing with the exception of nominal age related wear.
