Unusual Antique Blue Storage Jar / Cream Jar / Rustic Pot / Vase

Lovely little blue glazed stoneware jar from the Victorian era, would probably have contained cream originally

Use as vases to display individual stems, or just as display pieces. A great little rustic item

Rustically handmade and gloss glazed inside, matt on the outside, see photos for detail. Some discoloration from age and being buried!

No chips or cracks. Unusual in blue

8cms high, 5cm base diameter

Dug from Victorian landfill which means that there are some fabulous blemishes. See photos for details

So many of these went to landfill as from around 1880 it became uneconomical to reuse old materials. Therefore councils started paying to have rubbish dumped in landfill. This short window continued until around 1914 when manufacturing became much more industrialised.
