Vintage French Tournus UNIS Pure Nickel Kitchen Colander / Strainer / Passoir

Very beautiful rare strainer / colander / passoir from the UNIS MMT Tournus factory made from Pure Nickel. Maker's mark under the handle on one side

Generally we find UNIS utensils made of aluminum, this strainer is rare because it is one of the only pieces existing made of pure nickel metal. The production of pure nickel kitchen utensils has been banned in Europe since July 18, 2000. Today this metal is collected and recycled by scrap metal dealers. It is therefore a rare item to collect!

In very good general condition, it shows traces of slightly yellowish tinge due to oxidation. Pure nickel is a very malleable soft metal, this strainer is not dented and has therefore been very well preserved.
