Vintage Secla Portugal Majolica Honey Pot / Lidded Preserve Jar

A delightful vintage ceramic honey pot or preserve jar, made in Portugal by Secla pottery

It features an embossed design simulating a traditional wicker bee hive, with 3D bees on the body and one on the lid to form the handle

Its approx 10.5cm tall and 7.4cm in diameter

Secla Portugal was an artistic pottery workshop established in Caldas da Rainha in Portugal in 1947. The factory benefited from the post-war economic growth in Europe and most of production was exported to USA and UK

In overall good condition, there is a chip to one wing on the bee handle on the lid, but as this has glaze over it, this must have been done as part of the manufacturing process. Some surface scratches from use
