Victorian Ironstone Burgess’s London Anchovy Paste Pot & Lid – 1880s

A rare and highly collectible Victorian pot lid and base, originally used for Burgess’s Genuine Anchovy Paste. This charming piece of antique advertising pottery has been carefully recovered from a Victorian dump, preserving a piece of culinary history.

✨ Authentic 1880s Design: The lid features beautifully detailed black transfer print with the inscription:
"Burgess’s Genuine
The Original Fish Sauce Warehouse
107 Strand, Corner of the Savoy Steps, London
Anchovy Paste for Toast, Biscuit &c."

✨ Condition:

Glaze crazing and imperfections, typical of its age (see photos).
One chip to the inner rim of the base, but otherwise no cracks or additional chips.

Height: Just under 2 inches (4.5 cm)
Diameter: 3 ½ inches (9 cm)
